on managing their waterfront and hope that next year will be a much better year.
However, if proactive steps are not taken now, there is a good chance that next summer will be worse!

If you allow the vegetation to die off naturally (or chemically), it will settle to the bottom, create another layer of muck and provide a nutrient rich fuel for algae blooms and next years plant growth. Be proactive and take control by removing the plants mechanically now. http://www.LakeWeeds.MN

Many invasive weeds such as eurasian water-milfoil are self-fragmenting. If they are allowed a natural die-off, they will fragment on their own and are likely to replant in other areas of your waterfront.

Future growth of cattails can be dramatically reduced by cutting below the waterline in the late summer. This is not an easy project unless you have the right tools. Our Aquatic Vegetation Groomer, Lake Mower and WeedShear (in that order) are capable of getting it done.

Lily pads are working very hard at this time of the year to develop a stronger root system to expand their reach further next spring. Removing the pad at this time will weaken the entire root system. All of our cutting tools work well on lily pads.

The bottom muck and organic sediment should also be reduced by raking, WeedRolling or using our Muck Digester pellets. This effort will reduce future algae and weed growth for years to come.

So, if you want to increase your enjoyment next summer, be proactive and make the commitment right now for the future.

If you do not have the tools available to accomplish these important tasks, here is another great reason to consider making the investment into your shoreline right now: We are certain that nearly all of our products will increase in cost this next spring. Some costs have increased substantially and have already been passed on to us and we will need to do so in the spring.

Oh, one last reason to apply your greatest effort right now:summer is not over - why not enjoy your waterfront before fall arrives!
http://www.TheWeedersDigest.com
<!--

Will it come off like a commercial? Maybe but these are quoted facts from an Minnesota State official report. If you want our editorial comments on this report, contact us at 877-224-4899.

The AUAPCD had a higher satisfaction rating than other methods of aquatic plant control. When asked, “were you satisfoed with your AUAPCD”, 98% of those responding indicated that they were satisfied with these devices.

This is an impressive number when you consider the low satisfaction of lakeshore owners using more traditional means such as chemicals. The percentage nearly drops in half. (We will share that in a later post.)

There are other AUAPCD devices that make up this percentage and based on my field experience, I am 100% certain that some of these other devices actually drag down the 98% (no kidding). We may discuss that in a later post or just call us and we can cover it by phone.

Stop back regularly as we share key information on lakeshore management as reported by a well respected, well studied government agency.

Thanks for stopping by! The WeedRazer can cut weeds such as milfoil, hydrilla, coon tail, curly leaf pond weed, hyacinth, lily pads and cattails with ease.

Minnetonka, MN (PRWEB) June 15, 2007 -- There has always been a debate about how to manage the aquatic weeds in a lake or pond: applying chemical herbicides or harvesting. Chemical applications of Hydrothol or Aquathol are oftentimes frowned upon due to the unknown long term effects. Harvesting, when accomplished through cutting or tearing out weeds, can cause stray plant fragments that replant themselves elsewhere in the body of water.

From a purely environmental point of view it would be more beneficial to abstain from any form of lake weed cutting or chemical treatment. On the other hand, waterfront owners will oftentimes take matters into their own hands in order to enjoy their shoreline investment regardless of the environmental impact. That is the conflict that many lake and pond communities, lake associations and homeowner associations constantly face.

If weed abatement is to be conducted in designated areas for recreational or aesthetic reasons, cutting would be considered the lesser of the two evils. Removing the plant close to the bottom would be the preferred method, followed up with thorough raking and skimming of all fragments.

A redesign of a unique tool for aquatic plant management has been introduced for 2007 as "The WeedRazer" according to one of their dealers, Weeders Digest(http://www.WeedersDigest.com ). The WeedRazer was originally deigned for the benefit of professional water managers but has been made available for individual lakeshore and pond owners and is now distributed through qualified marine and aquatic dealers.

The WeedRazer's unique 48" wide V shaped cutting blades allow the operator to easily cut a 25' long, 4' wide swath with each pass. The WeedRazer is light enough to toss from the shore, dock or pier, yet heavy enough to sink to the bottom regardless of the depth. The razor-like blades literally skim the bottom cutting all weeds at the base as the tool is retrieved with the attached 25' leash.

Contact http://www.WeedersDigest.com for more information or by visiting one of their national dealers at http://www.WeedersDigest.com for more information about becoming a dealer or distributor.

According to the website, customer satisfaction is guaranteed with the WeedRazer: "If the WeedRazer is not the best tool you have ever used for cutting lake or pond weeds, return it for a complete refund." Now that is confidence!
<!--

Lake weeds and a soft bottom have always hindered the ability to enjoying a beachfront suitable for swimming and fun. Using a method that will continually agitate the lake bottom can dramatically reduce or remove lake muck. Rakes and lake weed cutters are effective but time consuming. The Weeders Digest has teamed with the Crary WeedRoller to offer a machine that will reduce muck, silt and aquatic weeds while dramatically reducing the effort to improve any shoreline.
Minneapolis, MN (PRWeb) January 17, 2007 -- The Weeders Digest Help Desk has added another innovative tool to benefit lakeshore owners called the WeedRoller which uses a sweeping arm to remove aquatic vegetation and weeds, muck and silt in front of a dock or pier to clear a swimming area or beach.

The WeedRoller uses a breakthrough pivot design that slowly rolls along the lake bottom, while detaching weeds from the soil and agitating the lake bed. The aquatic weeds can then be quickly and easily gathered with a lake rake and disposed of. Once the initial clean up is complete, it requires only occasional use to keep it weed free. The result is a cleaner, firm, natural lake bottom, ideal for swimming and water activities. The WeedRoller easily mounts to a dock in minutes, is environmentally safe, and requires about the same power it takes to operate a household light bulb.

For many, the WeedRoller offers a more environmentally friendly solution than damaging herbicides and chemicals which are also costly and oftentimes ineffective if improperly applied. Herbicides typically require a permit, but lakeshore owners often take the chemical application process into their own hands rather than complying with state and local regulations. Applying herbicides requires more knowledge than most homeowners posses. Irresponsible use could negatively impact the environment. This process should be left to a professional applicator rather than the homeowner.

A permit may also be required for operation of the Weed Roller depending upon the state where it is installed. Contact your state for specific regulations. Permit information can also be obtained at www.WeedersDigest.com .

In addition to the WeedRoller, The Weeders Digest continues to offer a wealth of tools, tips and education for lakeshore management. Other shoreline solutions include lake rakes and water weed cutters such as the Beach Buddy, Beach Groomer, WeedRazer, Aqua-Tiller, Aquatic Vegetation Groomer, Arrow Tooth, Lake Bottom Blanket, AWE, Aqua Blaster, Scott Aerator, Kasco Fountains and Midwest Rakes.

The Weeders Digest's addition of the WeedRoller will be supported by information found at Weeders Digest.com and through the phone support when calling The Help Desk at 763-551-1441.

<!--

As it's linked rollers rotate along the lake bottom, the WeedRoller detaches existing weeds and agitates the lake bed. This prevents more weed growth, for a clean, sandy lake bottom and a pleasant swimming area. The WeedRoller easily attaches to any dock or can be set up on an optional tripod. Remember when you said it would eventually get to sand only, and at the end there will be a distinct wall of where the sand is and the muck starts...that is what I have. I am very happy. Thanks for the follow up. Joe

6/27/07 I was back up there last Thursday after 2 weeks of operation and the treatment area was totally cleared! Nothing but nice sand now. This is the swimming area I was looking to achieve. I had 10 buddies up last weekend and everyone was impressed with the clear water and sandy bottom. Jason
6/26/07 The WeedRoller is working very well. After 2 months, the mud kit has been removed along with all the air in the tubes. I am down to running it a few hours a week. We had a brunch on our beach Sunday and received many comments about how nice our beach looks. Most importantly, no weeds and nice clean sand, no silt to stir up when swimming. Several of our neighbors are getting disappointed with the effectiveness of the chemicals used to treat the weeds and I know you will be receiving a call for at lease one of them. Link
5/22/07 Alison: Orlando Florida Bruce, Thanks for checking in. Sorry for the delay in responding….we were out the backyard enjoying our “NEW” lake all weekend! J We now have jetskis, children splashing at the shoreline, white sand….A much better picture than months ago when we didn’t even look outside because it was so depressing and overgrown.
Thanks for checking in … We are pleased with our WeedRoller! My husband had no problem assembling it and a tripod to put it on, as well. It has been running continuously for several weeks now. We move it every 4 or 5 days, depending on the area it’s taking care of. I will send you some pictures next weekend. If you remember, we had the big brush removed before ordering the Weedroller, but the roots were still there and we knew they would quickly grow back. Well – the Weedroller has taken care of that!
Bob Meyer: Big Birch Lake, MN."The lake bottom had not been used by swimmers and consequently the weeds gathered and grew and the subsequent muck develops. The WeedRoller handles the Job."
Dale Danielson: Eagle Lake, MN."Many weeds and 4" of silt. After 1 year with WeedRoller, I have no weeds and bottom cleaned up dramatically... The real bonus was bottom firmed up, no silt and muck left. It worked great!"
Lynn Cupkie: Big Pine Lake, MN."We were so overpopulated with weeds. I wouldn't even go in the water. Now we have a beautiful swim area-hard and totally weed-free bottom. We think your WeedRoller is one of the best things we ever invested in."
Jeff Muller: Wall Lake, MN."The bottom line for me is that I bought a home on this lake 2-1/2 years ago. I have three children. Without a beach or area to swim for my children the reasons for living on any lake would be greatly diminshed... Without the WeedRoller I'm not sure if I would still be living at this address. Customer service is your strongest suit-its great!"
Evelyn Larson: Pelican Lake, MN."I didn 't like the idea of putting chemical weed killers in the lake, and they really didn't do any kind of a job for us at all...It's a good feeling to know that you're using something that's proper, and that it works so well!"
Warren Johnson: Shamineauu Lake, MN." We had over a foot of muck before the WeedRoller-now the bottom is hard with a muck ridge at the end of the rollers... The WeedRoller does a great job of clearing it out."
Warren Anderson: Upper Gull Lake, MN."I feel the WeedRoller is the best method for control of lake weeds. I don't believe chemicals should be dumped in our lakes at all."
Robert Toborg: Margaret Lake, MN."My grandchildren and my kids all love the new beach they can play in. My neighbors can't believe what a good job this unit did!"
Gerald Meeks: Child Lake, MN."It has done a great job which exceeded our expectations."
Jerry Sheets: Pelican Lake, MN."It works well, totally cleared all weeds from all areas and smoothed the bottom... Easy to set up and works perfectly. It takes 3 days to control weeds..."
Gale Eastwood: Upper Gull Lake, MN."Worth every penny. Pleased with performance and operation. Simple concept and it works - a good combination!!"
Carol Brezinka: Pequot Lakes, MN."THE BEST SOLUTION WE'VE EVER USED!!! for 2 years we went with a state licensed sprayer - the cost of this was the same as the investment in the roller & this is the only thing that has worked and we feel will last certainly more than 2 years!"
Gene Rindehnt: Dagget Lake, MN."It made the bottom much firmer and got rid of weeds, I just love to watch the progress it makes."
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey, why are all of the testimonials from MINNESOTA? That's a good question!
Currently there are THOUSANDS in use today - and that's just in Minnesota (the birthplace of the WeedRoller). The WeedRoller is one of those products that has been succesfully sold by word of mouth and by referral. If a new WeedRoller lands on someone's shoreline, it takes very little time before that neighborhood adds another, then across the bay, the lake, the county and the state.
The biggest draw for most lakeshore owners is that they can define the area of weed control to their specific swim area. Most people that have kids swimming in the water prefer The WeedRoller rather than pouring chemicals in that will drift - and who knows what the long term effects are. We believe that the WeedRoller is better for the environment that the alternative methods.
<!--
